Lenten Season 2011

Although the Bible does not say that I must do anything special in the months prior to Easter, I am a lover of tradition and thus, I feel led to do something in this Lenten season.

My goal for this Lenten season, is to focus on Jesus (of course) and to focus on my family.
-I will give up watching my beloved TV shows (House and Grey's Anatomy) and those that I watch just to veg out after the kids go to bed.
-The music I listen to will only be that which praises our Lord.
-I will take a break with Facebook also.  I will have any personal message from Facebook sent to my e-mail, but will not be checking my news feed.  While I love to read how all my dear friends are doing, I desire to step back and spend that time with my family.
-And last, but not least, I will learn how to play Wii Lego Batman and Lego Star Wars.  I feel like all I have been doing in the last months, is yelling at my kids and telling them what they cannot do, so I will give in and learn these silly games, in order to do something with my kids that they enjoy.

In addition to all the above, the kids and I will be studying the life of Jesus through these 40 days of Lent.  We will have a time daily, to discuss the many stories of our Gospel.  I will document here and on Facebook (without looking in my news feed :) what we will be studying each day.
I will update my blog once a week with the scriptures we will be going over.
Come along if you so desire:)
