ADVENTURE IS OUT THERE!!!!!

March 12th, 2010 We headed out to the east side of the island today, HILO. We had a mission...to pick up our Honda, finally. We had it shipped February 17th from Phoenix. Ethan Sky and Caleb had a different mission....to find LOTS of adventures:) After an 1 1/2 hour car ride, we picked up the car, praised GOD that it started and nothing was damaged, dropped off the rental car of 6 weeks with a nasty price of $1500 and then started our adventure. Rainbow falls was our first destination. Joshua and I went there pre-babies and I was not all that impressed. Well, I cannot tell you how impressed I was this time!!! I think it was getting dark by the time we got there before, and we could not see all that much. Words cannot describe the beauty that surrounded us. We were able to climb up to the top of the fall and see the water that gathered there. The boys found sticks and pretended to fish in the very still water. On our climb up to the top of the fall, we found a huge Banyan Tree. Can you see the boys at the bottom??? This is the most amazing tree that God has created (in my opinion.) Roots come down from everywhere. The picture does not show how wide this Banyan tree is. There were at least three more roots coming out that created trees that were smaller than the one pictured. I heart Banyan Trees a lot!!!!! After that awesome adventure, we headed out for ONEKAHAKAHA BEACH PARK. It was advertised as a white sand beach that is very shallow and waveless. Great for snorkeling and kids. It was kind of a disappointment, as there was not really any sand and it was very rocky. Ethan's feet were pretty scratched up by the end of that adventure. Ethan and Joshua did see a sea turtle and some sea urchins, though. We may try it again, after we find some water shoes. It started to rain, so we started making our way home. We took a route straight through Hawaii on the way there. It proved to be fun for Joshua and Ethan Sky, but made my stomach turn a little too much. So I was glad to be taking a nice leisurely ride home, along the coast. We stopped in Waipio Valley, as Joshua had heard about a very fun path that required four wheel drive. Luckily, they had a lookout spot for the valley, as our Accord is not equipped with four wheel drive. The picture doesn't really show how amazing this place is. There is a VERY steep drop right at the place we are standing. In our traveling we saw lots of goats, sheep, cows, horses and one turkey. We are definitely in the country!! On our way home we went through quite a bit of rain and actually were driving through clouds at one point. It was quite an adventure we had!!! Can't wait for the next one!!
